Ponomo- was founded in 2001 by artist/designer, Hannah Tarkinson. Initially, Ponomo consisted of a line of one-of-a-kind leather handbags. After developing street credibility and responding to the demands of a loyal customer base, the line evolved to include fine jewelry and leather accessories. The unique nature of Ponomo continues to attract a client base as diverse as the materials used to create each piece. What began in Tarkinson's small basement studio has expanded to include placement in museums, specialty boutiques, a dedicated e-commerce site, and a busy studio in Portland, Maine’s thriving East Bayside.
