Erik Schurink

Erik Schurink is a visual artist. His motto is "Design is my living, art is my life." Art has always informed his design process, and design is an important part of his art making process. Having developed, designed, produced, and curated dozens of art and interactive museum exhibits for both adults and children, he is a poet and visual storyteller applying image and text in the sparest of ways to spark connection with and within the viewer and reader.

Schurink was born and raised in the Netherlands. After earning his MFA in interior and environmental design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, he moved to New York in 1983. He has worked as a staff and freelance exhibit and graphic designer, before entering the museum field as designer and creative director. Since 2022, he dedicates his time to painting at his studio and writing poetry.
