Our clay center provides affordable workspaces and ceramic equipment access to established and emerging clay artists. Through open-air studios, communal workspaces, and annual public events we hope to foster a resilient, professional and supportive ceramic community.
Associate Membership in our RWS Clay Department includes 24/7 access to the artists storage shelving, locking cubby, all department equipment, shared workshpace and tools, access to our 5 electric kilns, glaze booth, raw materials and plaster room as well as community events, opportunities and discounts on workshops, raw materials, events and access to other departments such as the print shop. A Clay Center Manager and Clay Technician oversee the Clay Center at RWS and the administration and maintenance team also support the department and general building.
A tour, application are required for consideration for membership. Overall acceptance into the Clay Center is based on skill level and ability to work independently while in a community setting. RWS Clay Center does not supply clay, personal tools or glazes.
