MEMBERSHIPS & RESIDENCIES

Running With Scissors Studios provides affordable studio spaces for artists in diverse media, as well as access to studio equipment and membership in a creative community. The RWS studios are composed of 70+ dedicated studio workspaces ranging from 76-525 square feet. Rent includes all utilities, WiFi, access to equipment, common workspaces, special events, parking, kitchen, and other amenities. Prices range from $185-$1100.00 per month, plus a security deposit of a months’ rent. All our studios are located at 250 Anderson Street with ample car & bike parking. RWS is located directly adjacent to the Portland Trail system and conveniently reached from 295 N and Marginal Way and close to the East End, Whole Foods, local coffee shops, breweries, art centers, restaurants, and a richly diverse community.

RESIDENT ARTISTS

Build a studio space within Running With Scissors and immerse yourself in the RWS community.

Resident artists are professional artists who have the technical skill and experience to work independently in the studio. Resident Artists have 24/7 access to their own private studio space and the option to add on access to the print shop, clay center and wood shop with an additional membership to those departments. The computer area, kitchen, overflow workspaces are included in the studio membership. Monthly rates are based on square footage and include utilities, wi-fi & parking. 

ASSOCIATE ARTISTS

Build on your practice by using the Running With Scissors facilities on a regular basis. but with a shorter time and monetary commitment.

 

Associate Artists are developing and established artists who have previous experience and are looking for 24/7 access to the print shop, clay center, wood shop or an all access membership. Associate artists work in the common studio areas in their chosen department and are provided generous storage. They have access to the other common areas and general equipment, computer area, and kitchen. They also have the option to access the other departments with an additional membership to those departments. Monthly rates are based on storage space size, length of commitment and medium. They range from $150 - $225 per month.

DAY PASSES

Non-members may gain temporary access to the RWS printshop facilites, wood shop, or co-working space for short term projects or day use*.

SELECTION PROCESS & WAITLIST

All applications are reviewed based on the following criteria: Applicant's level of professionalism, artistic quality of work, and commitment to the studio community. We consider many factors in our selection process including interview and studio balance.

If you are accepted, we will contact you to arrange a lease and security briefing. If we are full at the time of your application, we will contact you about being placed on our waitlist.
